FF Friday #1

How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

I am usually really patient with books, especially if they have a lot of hype (yes, I'm that person).  Otherwise, I usually give the book a few chapters because a lot of books (especially the classics) start off slowly.

The only exception would be if the plot is becoming a little cliched or if it's so predictable that I don't want to waste my time with it.  I recently started a YA dystopian novel which featured a "strong" female heroine, some magical property that makes her special and the requisite love triangle. I was like screw this.

  2. I know exactly what you mean about the overdone plot lines... especially love triangles!!For me, I just don't have time to power through a book I don't like. There's way too many books on my TBR to waste time with a book I'm not enjoying even a little bit.

  5. Ha, the "screw this" sounded a lot like me when my favorite series just gets horrible or a book is utterly stupid. Thanks for hopping by. I followed back via GFC and Bloglovin! You have a great new blog!

  7. I try to do the same, give a few chapters. After that if I'm still not convinced I bail. There are just too many books on the TBR list :) New bloglovin follower. Happy Friday & thanks for stopping by my FF!

  10. I think I've read that dystopian too, lol. Aren't they all like that? When I feel like I've read this exact book before, that's the fastest way for me to DNF a book.

  11. I agree, a book that is a pale copy of others should be DNF'ed. I just need to make myself actually do it, I guess.

  14. I usually stick it out with the hope that it's going to improve. If it doesn't then that's pretty much it for the series and the author. Following you back on Bloglovin'
